Linking to Data

You can link to data in two ways: a live link or a manual link. 

For Internet data, the link is always manual; when you buy or sell, the program goes to the Internet site and obtains the latest quote. 

For other data sources:

Live Link: You select this from the Data-Link menu item.  With this setting, prices are updated, and market values re-calculated, whenever prices change.

Manual Link: With this setting, prices are only updated when you click the “Update” button.  However, if you trade a security, a live link gets established to that security, so you always trade at live prices.

The manual link imposes less of a burden on your system, and is recommended.  With Internet data, updates are manual only.
