The data source tells the program where the data comes from. The program can handle different data sources for different securities. Built (built-in) examples are:
· Data from an Internet site where quotes are presented in a table
· This includes, for example, the web sites of most stock exchanges, and also of data providers such as Bloomberg and Reuters.
· Data from the CBOE and other supported Internet Sites
· These sites provide quotes on various securities, including stocks and options. The program uses the last traded price for both the bid and ask
· REUTER|IDN
· This tells the program that the data come from the application REUTER using the IDN select feed. If this is your data source, then the Reuter’s Data Dictionary (sometimes called the Personal Data Dictionary) must be running.
· TTWINDDE |QFRecord
· This tells the program that the data come from the Telerate application TTWINDDE using the QFRecord data source. If this is your data source, then TWINDDE must be running and QFRecord data must be available
· Data from Excel
· To make Excel the data source, you simply have to type in Excel followed by | followed by the name of the worksheet. For example, suppose the data are in the workbook called Book1 and the worksheet Sheet1. Then, you would type in Excel|[Book1]Sheet1 as your data source.
